I've been involved with my local volunteer fire department, the Enfield Volunteer Fire District, for over 10 years now. My dad is the fire chief, and my twin brother serves as deputy chief. I figured I'd never be the one running into a burning building, but I could help elsewhere. For years I assisted with clerical tasks and administrative functions, like fighting with the copy machine. And I technically still do.

But I developed a new dream back in 2024. Just after my mom passed away and my life tilted wildly out of control, I wrote in my journal that someday I'd be an EMT. In 2026 I took a leap of faith, surrounded myself with brilliant women in EMS, and jumped into an EMT class. I completed my course with Auraprep, who I highly recommend, and received my NYS EMT-B certification in June of 2026. I applied to our local ambulance agency and somehow made it into the June orientation class. Since then I've completed my orientation, and I'm still learning every day. There's nothing I love more than continuing education and solving a puzzle, so EMS was my calling after all. I work with some of my favorite people in the world, and I LOVE what I do.

I can't talk about my success in EMS without mentioning Elevate EMS Training. Traci, the owner and founder, has been my mentor from day one and has done nothing but support, guide, and mold me into the best provider I can be. Elevate did several tutoring sessions with me, which all paid off in a high score on both my final and my certification test.
